Terms of Use

The short version

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Jeremy Pau, who makes Oblongato ("Oblongato", "we", "us"). They apply when you use the Oblongato app and its related services. By creating an account or using Oblongato, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Oblongato.

2. Who can use Oblongato

You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use Oblongato and has read these terms with you.

3. Your account

4. Your content

Everything you add to Oblongato, such as tasks, projects, notes and photos, belongs to you. You give us permission to store, process and display it only so we can run Oblongato for you: syncing it, showing it to friends you choose to share with, and powering features you use, like the AI features. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from short-lived backup copies described in our Privacy Policy.

Only add content you have the right to use, such as photos you've taken or have permission to use.

5. Friends and acceptable use

Friends lets you share tasks and send nudges to people you connect with. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You must not use Oblongato to:

You can block anyone, and report them from their page in Friends. We review reports promptly, normally within 24 hours, and may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, without notice where necessary.

6. AI features

Some features use AI to turn what you type, or photos of lists, into tasks, and to write light-hearted summaries. AI can make mistakes, so please check the results before relying on them. Don't use the AI features for anything where a mistake could cause harm.

7. Oblongato itself

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Oblongato at any time and delete your account from the app. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to for legal reasons. If we ever stop offering Oblongato, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data where we can.

9. Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep Oblongato reliable, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or that your data can never be lost, so please don't rely on it as the only record of anything critical. Oblongato is provided "as is", to the extent the law allows.

We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for business losses, or for things outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited under the law, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

10. Apple

If you downloaded Oblongato from the App Store:

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Oblongato grows. If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Oblongato afterwards, the new terms apply.

12. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you also keep the protections of your local consumer law, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
